Building the conditions for sparkle to spread.
The brightest solutions already exist in the people closest to the problems. KiraKira creates the environments, tools, and knowledge that help those ideas take root, catch light, and grow.
The Problem
Too many promising ideas never get the conditions they need to grow.
Fragmented resources, burnout, limited infrastructure, and systems that overlook lived experience can keep meaningful solutions from reaching their potential.
KiraKira exists to change that.
Out Origin Story
Kira Sano, founder of KiraKira, has been exploring the tools of social impact since the age of 13, from data and systems thinking to communication, creativity, and technology.
Her work with the American Cancer Society showed her how stronger tools and systems can strengthen social impact organizations. At the USC Radical Play Lab, she explored how play and innovation could become tools for change.
Along the way, she kept returning to kirakira, a Japanese word describing light that glimmers and catches again and again.
It became the foundation for KiraKira and a guiding question:
How do we nurture and multiply the sparkle already alive in people and communities?
